Life-changing lens designs. That's our specialty!

Lens Designs

When it comes to specialty lens innovation and precision manufacturing, it’s hard to top TruForm.  We take pride in the fact that we hold more patents, 8 to be exact, than any privately owned specialty lab.  Our exacting standards and engineering allow you to be more efficient in the fitting process.

Scleral & Digital Designs

More Info

Design & Specs

  • Specialty GP scleral lenses used for fitting keratoconus and other irregular
    corneas

  • The Tru-Scleral design has a diameter range of 16-20mm. with a standard size of 18mm that is vented by radial channels cut into periphery

  • Additional features include torics and bifocals

Fitting:

  • A diagnostic lens set is recommended and can be ordered through TruForm.

Candidates (“Who It’s For”)

  • Patients after post-refractive surgery

  • Patients with PMD, Sattler’s veil, keratoglobus, Steven-Johnson’s syndrome or post trauma ocular surface disease

More Info

Design & Specs

  • Diameter range: 13.5-16.0 mm, with standard size 15.0 mm

  • Includes standard fenestration when using the 11.00 mm diameter.

  • Material: Optimum Extra.

  • Available in torics and bifocals.

  • A diagnostic lens set (trial set) is recommended.

Fitting:

  • Different zones for fitting: optical zone, corneal zones, limbal adjustment, main landing, etc. Offers shape options (prolate, oblate) depending on curvature.

  • Designed to have broad corneal clearance or minimal touch up front with good scleral alignment and slight edge clearance.

  • After fitting, follow-up is needed: initial dispensed follow up, then interval checks (1 week, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, etc.) to assess settling, comfort, vision.

Candidates (“Who It’s For”)

  • For irregular corneas, e.g. keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, keratoglobus.

  • Post-surgical (post LASIK, etc.), post trauma, Sattler’s veil, Steven-Johnson’s, or other ocular surface disease.

  • When conventional corneal lenses don’t center properly.

Benefits to Highlight

  • Flexible fit: multiple diameters + base curves + shape zones mean you can adapt to many kinds of irregular corneas.

  • Comfort & stability: good clearance zones, proper landing zones reduce discomfort, air-bubbles, decentration.

  • Versatility: with torics/bifocals, this design handles a wider prescription range.

  • Reduced remakes: diagnostic trial set + follow up ensures better first-fit accuracy.

Myopia Management

More Info

Design

  • Myopia management lens designed to produce a temporary reduction of
    myopia

  • Four zone reverse geometry design consisting of:

    • Central spherical or aspheric zone
    • Reverse zone with a steeper curve than the central zone
    • Alignment zone that parallels the cornea
    • Peripheral curve zone to create edge lift
    • Rounded edge terminus extending from anterior to posterior
      surface to promote comfort
  • Approved to be worn overnight with removal during all or part of the
    following day

Candidates

  • Patients who desire to reduce their myopia without surgery

  • Refractions with up to 3.00D of myopia and 1.50D of astigmatism

Fitting

  • Diagnostic lens fitting is not required

  • Diagnostic lenses may be helpful in fitting patients whose corneal
topography has been distorted by previous contact lens wear

  • A basic diagnostic lens set consists of 18 base curves with one optic zone
    diameter and one overall diameter

More Info

Design

  • Type: FDA-cleared orthokeratology lens

  • Wear: Overnight only; gently reshapes the cornea while you sleep.

  • Material: Oxygen-permeable GP for safe overnight use.

  • FDA approval is for myopia up to -5.00 D with 1.50 of WTR astigmatism.
  • There are no age restrictions.

Intended Use

  • Myopic patients seeking daytime clear vision without lenses or surgery.

  • Children or adults wishing to manage myopia progression.

Benefits

  • Clear vision all day after removal each morning.

  • Evidence-based myopia-control effect.

  • Non-surgical, adjustable, and fully reversible.

Post-Surgical Solutions

More Info

Design

  • Large diameter post graft lens

  • Custom curves available

Candidates

  • Patients with corneal irregularities from transplant, scarring, injury

Fitting

  • A diagnostic lens set is recommended

  • Or lenses can be ordered through consultation with K's and Rx and maps

Multifocal & Presbyopia Options

More Info

Design

  • Translating, segmented lens design

  • Incorporates a spherical mid-range between distinct distance and near
zones on the front surface of the lens
  • Recommended to be designed with prism and truncation (Truncation is
highly recommended for plus powered lenses)

Candidates

  • Patients requiring excellent distance and near vision and who use their
mid-range two or more hours each day

  • Previously adapted rigid lens wearers

  • Those patients who require a rigid lens design based on their corneal
    topography or refraction

Benefits

  • Fitting sets are available, lenses can be fit with k readings/refraction/lid
    measurements.

More Info

Design

  • Simultaneous Front Surface Multifocal

Candidates

  • Past CL wearing history – are they already adapted to gas perms and did
they have a superior lid attachment type fit?
  • Corneal/Lid Structure-do they have less than 3.00 D corneal cylinder?
And, is their palpebral fissure width at least 8 mm?
  • Wants/Desires and Motivation – is the patient more critical of their
distance, midrange or reading? Patients with high distance and midrange demands are good candidates. Patients who are more discerning of their
reading (near point) may do better with one of our segmented designs.

Fitting

  • Patient can be fit empirically or use trial lenses
More Info

Design

  • Progressive, aspheric multifocal
  • Simultaneous distance and near vision delivered through the back surface aspheric design
  • Center of the lens provides distance vision while near vision is delivered
    through the mid-periphery

Candidates

  • Previously adapted GP contact lens wearers
  • Current GP lens wearer whose lenses are fit with a superior lid attachment
  • Patients with less than 3.00D of corneal cylinder
  • Individuals with at least an 8mm vertical palpebral fissure
  • Patients who have strong distance and midrange vision demands will do well with this lens design while those with a stronger need for near vision may do better with the SolitaireThin or LlevationsThin lens designs

Fitting

  • The Prefix II Multifocal can be ordered empirically with the nomogram provided by TruForm Optics or with Ks and Rx through the fitting consultants
More Info

Design

  • Translating, segmented lens design
  • The intermediate zone is a gradual transition from the full distance power to the full near power
  • Recommended to be designed with prism and truncation (truncation is
highly recommended for plus power lenses)

Candidates

  • Patients requiring sharp distance, functional intermediate, as well as near vision
  • Previously adapted rigid lens wearers
  • Those patients who require a rigid lens design based on their corneal
    topography or refraction

Fitting
